The MailGate Virus Scanner Extension is an optional module which provides a link between MailGate and the anti-virus software. The extension cannot deliver virus protection until a third-party virus detection engine is installed alongside MailGate. Virus detection software is available through Open Access. Currently Sophos Anti-Virus software, from Sophos Plc is supported. Limited support is given to other AV products which support "On Access" scanning.
